DR Black granite originates from Telangana, India, and is characterised by its deep black with ultra-fine grain structure delivering superior laser engraving performance. DR Black achieves 105–115 GU polished gloss as standard — higher than most black granites due to the ultra-fine grain structure. Gloss meter certificates are provided with every shipment. Our minimum for DR Black is 105 GU; slabs measuring below this are rejected before packing.
DR Black vs Absolute Black: DR Black has a finer grain structure producing slightly higher gloss and better engraving resolution. Absolute Black has slightly higher compressive strength and is typically 10–15% lower in cost. For memorial applications requiring portrait engraving, DR Black is the preferred specification. For countertop and flooring applications, both perform equally.
